Although the Chiss were insular enough to be considered legend by those living on the borders of Unknown Space, they were fearsome enough that nobody was especially eager to meet them. Those unlucky enough to venture into their space uninvited did not tend to come back to tell the tales, as their vessels would be swiftly disabled and seized if not outright destroyed.
