A show doesn't maintain a 100% rotten tomatoes score for being shallow. My only reservations on recommending R&M over Futurama would be if your strongly religious. I say this because the show does have many anti-religious sentiments as a byproduct of nihilism being a main pillar of the experance. That might prevent you from getting the humor or just enjoying the show in general. (In which case Futurama is still a excellent choice).
