If you do not have a dog and will be gone from home for long periods of time , two kittens will be company for each other, just like human beings animals can and do experience loneliness / feelings of isolation and hence depression / they need interaction with their owners , and in the case of cats ( a high place to get off the floor) a tall cat tower will do it , toys to stimulate play and exercise ,
