The plane is large and powerful so it can haul a large payload. It costs an ag-pilot money to ferry back and forth to reload chemical, fertilizer, or seed. The only time an ag-pilot is making money is when he is actually making a swath and dispensing the product. Turns and ferries to reload and refuel cost money.
