Indeed, the more gimmicky or game-y it is, the more likely and the more quickly this is going to happen -- and the easier it will be for your not-so-sincere employees to 'game' it in their favor in order to get brownie points from management, for 'showing' a level of care, dedication and engagement that isn't really there for them.
